Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Bourgeois earned his DDS in 1987 from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia Canada. Following graduation, he completed a one year Hospital Residency at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto Canada. In 1991 he earned his Diploma in Oral Radiology and in 1994 his M.Ed. from the University of Toronto. Dr. Bourgeois has served as Chair of the Dental Advisory Committee of the H.A.R.P. Commission in Ontario Canada and is currently President of the Ontario Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologists and the H.M. Worth Radiology and Oral Medicine Study Club.

Dr. Bourgeois is a member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Dental Board, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, The Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and The American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Dr. Paula Sikorski graduated from the University of Toronto earning her DDS with honours in 1977. She completed her M.Sc. at the University of Toronto, Canadian specialty certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and American Board certification in 1981. Dr. Sikorski is the former undergraduate course director in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the University of Toronto. She is past President of the Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and has served as both Chief Examiner and Councilor in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology to the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Currently, Dr. Sikorski has a private practice in Toronto specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She is also an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto and on staff as a consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in the Departments of Dentistry at Mount Sinai Hospital, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Sick Kids.

Dr. Marta Somaschini is a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, trained at the University of Toronto, where she also earned her Master’s degree. During her residency, she was awarded the Best Research Award at the Annual Conference of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Dr. Somaschini holds a degree in Dentistry from the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, one of the leading dental schools in the world. Following her dental training, she completed a two-year residency in Radiology at the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies (USP), Brazil, and earned a Master’s and PhD in Oral Medicine at the University of São Paulo. During her studies, she provided advanced dental care to patients with craniofacial anomalies, working closely with oral surgeons, plastic surgeons, ENTs, prosthodontists, periodontists, oral pathologists, and pediatric dentists. Her clinical and academic excellence throughout this period was recognized through multiple Brazilian national scholarships. She further expanded her research expertise through a Research Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, USA.

Prior to her residency in Canada, Dr. Somaschini completed a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Toronto. She is the author and co-author of publications in respected peer-reviewed journals, including BMC Cancer, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Radiology, The Cleft Palate–Craniofacial Journal, Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, and PLOS ONE.

Dr. Somaschini is a licensed general dentist in Canada and a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
